As ambassadors of Duty of Care, the International SOS Foundation has been at the forefront of driving research, training, and events to harness and grow awareness of the importance of complying with the Duty of Care obligations worldwide. As the risk environment evolves amongst geopolitical tensions, health risks, natural disasters, and civil unrest, 2025 brings uncertainty to an organisations’ prevention plans.
For this reason, we carried out a global survey in partnership with KPMG and Herbert Smith Freehills, a leading international law firm, to understand the future landscape of Duty of Care and how organisations are adapting to change.
Our research uncovered that the biggest challenge for organisations in upholding Duty of Care responsibilities to their workforce was compliance. This is followed by upholding their legal obligations and complying with their Travel Risk Policy. A staggering 61% of respondents expect their organisation's international activities to increase, indicating a positive trajectory for operational expansion, economic growth, and international travel.
This global paper guides readers to our regional Duty of Care papers which provide local legislative guidance across Australia, UK, France, Spain, Singapore, Italy, and Switzerland.
